Venezuelan politician invited to the Democratic National Convention

According to this press report the Democratic National Convention, which is underway in Denver, has a space for various world leaders to be present. Present at the DNC will be Venezuelan national coordinator for Primero Justicia Julio Borges who will be presenting on the state of democracy, the Chavez imposed reforms, and the inhabilitaciones.

Borges was invited by the National Democratic Institute (NDI), which has been working with PJ developing democratic values. Curiously the NDI identifies itself more closely to the democratic party.

Interestingly, only a couple of months ago Leopoldo Lopez had a brief meeting with Obama and was invited by another democrat, Richard Daily of Chicago.

So I ask, where has the republican party been? Anyone?
